Lafarge to invest EUR20m in Romanian Aggregates Unit 2007

Lafarge plans to invest EUR20m (US$27m) in 2007 to develop its Romanian limestone quarry and aggregates producer  Lafarge Agregate Betoane, the group said on June 7, 2007. 
 
Lafarge Agregate Betoane operates 14 aggregate stations, seven quarries and a warehouse in the country.  
 
The company has recently launched its second mobile aggregates station for asphalt production.  
 
Lafarge Agregate Betoane is controlled by domestic cement producer  LafargeCement, part of the  Lafarge group.  
 
French Lafarge also owns in Romania plasterboard producer  Lafarge Arcom Gips.  
 
Lafarge competes in the Balkan country with Holcim Romania, a unit of Swiss cement company  Holcim, and  Carpatcement, a subsidiary of German  HeidelbergCement.
