KHD to supply plant design and equipment for Katrana Cement

Saudi-based Arabian Cement announced that KHD Humboldt Wedag has been selected for the design and equipment supply for a new 2Mta cement works in Katrana, Jordan.  
 
The best European companies specialized in cement plant design and equipment manufacturing competed to win this project.  
 
"The Katrana Plant will produce top quality products using the latest technologies in this field at a time when Jordan’s and the Middle East real-estate development sectors are witnessing unprecedented growth and heightening demand," Arabian Cement President and CEO Mr. Muhammad Taher Uthman said.
 
Mr. Uthman also emphasized that the construction and operation of the Katrana Factory will abide by Jordanian environmental regulations noting that the company has finalized an environmental impact assessment study that was carried out according to top international standards, especially that the factory’s production capacity is expected to reach 4Mta in the near future.  
 
KHD Chief Sales Officer Mr. Rudolf Pich said KHD enjoys a long business relationship with Arabian cement Company and is proud to continue this in the Katrana Plant project.  
 
"The plant concept worked out by  Arabian Cement, the consultant Holtec and KHD represents the state of the art for a modern cement plant. The equipment, designed and supplied by European companies like KHD, Gebr. Pfeiffer and ABB in collaboration with their subsidiaries will meet the environmental requirements as well as energy consumption targets of today and tomorrow," Mr. Pich said.  
 
The factory is located in Katrana, in the Karak governorate 90 kilometers south the Capital Amman. Katrana has large deposits of limestone, the basic material for cement production.
