Holcim appeal, New Zealand
29 May 2007

Holcim is urging Waitaki residents to have their say on its proposal for a $200m plant at Weston, near Oamaru. Holcim’s resource consent applications were notified in April and submissions close on June 19.

Holcim strategy and development general manager Paul Commons said: "We are suggesting to people that if they want the jobs and benefits that the cement plant would provide they should have their say."

The plant would generate between 110 and 125 direct long-term jobs and a further 80 to 120 jobs in professional, technical, maintenance and production work.
