Peruvian domestic cement sales at 868,060t Jan-Feb 2007

Peruvian domestic cement sales stood at 868,060t in the period January to February 2007, up 9.42 per cent YoY, the country’s Association of Cement Companies (Asocem) said on April 5, 2007.  
 
Peru’s cement exports dropped 73.78 per cent YoY to 26,246t. Thus, total cement sales registered a 0.1 per cent increase to 894,306t.  
 
Cement production rose 1.25 per cent to 886,311t over the period.  
 
The residential, self-help housing and big infrastructure projects continue boosting cement production and sales in Peru, the economic analyst from the local consultancy Maximixe, Manuel Ruiz, said. Public and private financing in housing construction continues growing, Ruiz added. Peru reports an increase in mortgage loans extension.  
 
In February 2007 Peru reported 422,206t of cement sales on the Peruvian market. No cement exports were reported in the second month of 2007. Cement output in Peru stood at 434,166t in February 2007.
