Holcim Romania plans investments worth €86m

Holcim Romania this year plans to make investments worth €86m in a series of projects including the modernization of the grey cement production line in Campulung. The project will be finalised by 2008. Other investments are related to environment care, logistics, ecological concrete and aggregate facilities, personal and professional development programs for employees, as well as social responsibility projects. 


Over the period 1997 - 2006, the company spent over 391 million EUR for business development, production technology modernization, health and safety, development programs for employees and social projects. 


Due to favorable weather conditions in the past three years, as well as the growing number of residential and infrastructure projects, the cement market is currently on an ascendent trend and shows average annual growth of approximately 15%, according to Markus Wirth, Country Manager of Holcim Romania. 


In less than two years after the modernization of the Alesd cement plant in 2004, the company started the expansion of Campulung cement plant"s production capacity. The investment amounts to approximately €120m.
