Lafarge re-launches Kumanga cement
29 March 2007

Lafarge Portland Cement, Malawi major cement manufacturer, yesterday re-launched one of its products Kumanga Cement during a function in Blantyre where the company also drilled customers on how to use the product to get the best results. Kumanga Cement was initially launched in 2002 and enjoys about 20 per cent of the country’s construction market share.

Lafarge general manager Sjoerd Grueter said due to Kumanga’s rapid growth, the company decided to help customers with proper product application knowledge through workshops, product brochures and subsequent re-launch.

"At Lafarge one of our objectives is customer satisfaction through the provision of products that meet and exceed customers’ expectations. We believe that such workshops will help customers gain full benefits from our Kumanga Cement product if properly applied and hence attain very high level

of satisfaction."

“We would like to assure our customers to refrain from buying from unknown and untracable sources and to request receipts everytime they purchase our product so that we are able to trace these fake manufactures,” he said.

Msowoya added that his company has been working together with the Malawi Bureau of Standards and the Police to curb the problem but was quick to express dissatisfaction over the nature of punishment given to offenders when they are caught.
