Cruz Azul opened a new plant Friday in Puebla, following an investment of US$350m.
Guillermo Alvarez, chief executive of Cruz Azul, said the facility will have a capacity of 1Mta.
Cruz Azul operates three other cement plants in Mexico.
The country’s cement industry, which is dominated by Cemex, is expected to grow 3% this year in terms of volume, following 8% growth in 2006, according to the Mexican cement chamber Canacem.
