Thailand to raise Vietnam cement industry investment to $6bn

Thai cement enterprises will raise investment to $3bn in Vietnam’s cement industry in 2007, and later to US$6bn, affirmed former Foreign Minister Arsa Sarasin in talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung March 21 in Hanoi.  
 
Arsa Sarasin, also secretary of the Thai King, visited Vietnam accompanied by more than 100 Thai businessmen, on March 21-22.  
 
During the meeting, former Foreign Minister Arsa Sarasin spoke highly of Vietnam’s economic growth and affirmed Thai businesses would boost investment in Vietnam, while Prime Minister Dung stressed the Government and people of Vietnam would create favorable conditions for Thai investors to do business in the country to reach the potential of the two nations. 
 
Thailand now has 145 valid projects in Vietnam worth a combined investment capital of more than $1.6 billion, ranking 12th among 77 countries and territories and 3rd among ASEAN nations investing in the country.
