Azerbaijan production exceeds 1.5Mt
Azerbaijan produced 1.554Mt of cement in 2006, with a 0.1% increase from 2005. It has been the highest indicator in Azerbaijan’s cement production history.
The main cement producer is Garadagh Cement. This plant mmeets 50% of the local cement demand (Garadagh Cement is capable of producing 1 to 1.4Mta), while the rest is imported.
It is worth noting that the question of building a new cement plant in Azerbaijan to produce 1.5Mt of cement annually was discussed at the meeting of the Azeri-French economic committee in Paris. Lafarge is reportedly interested in undertaking this project. Published under Cement News
