Holcim sees strong growth lasting into 2007, continues expansionary course
08 January 2007

Holcim’s strong performance leading to record-breaking results in the first nine months carried over into the fourth quarter of 2006, and the group expects growth to continue in 2007, Holcim chief executive Markus Akermann said in an interview with Swiss bi-weekly Finanz und Wirtschaft.

’We have achieved record-breaking results in the first nine months. In the fourth quarter, the positive trend continued,’ Akermann said.

For 2007, Akermann expects the pronounced growth to continue in Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe, while forecasting solid growth in industrialised countries.

’Overall, I expect Holcim’s growth trend to continue,’ he said.

Ackermann added that Holcim’s expansionary course has by no means come to an end.

’Consolidation is out of the question, we will continue to expand,’ Akermann said, adding that the cement maker was not considering a capital increase to fund growth.

’A capital increase is not being debated,’ Akermann said.
