05 January 2007

ABG Shipyard, India’s largest private shipbuilder, has won an order to build a cement carrier for compatriot owner Gujarat Ambuja Cements (GACL).

The order for the 4,000-dwt self-loading and unloading unit is the eighth the Indian owner has built at ABG. GACL is set to net the yard around $9.9m, says ABG.

Delivery of the unit, which will be 97-metres long, will take place before the end of June 2008.
