15 December 2006

Votorantim Cimentos has inaugurated yesterday its 13th distribution centre in the North & Northeast regions, located at Teresina (Piaui), which will attend 43 municipalities and Belem city (Para).

This new distribution centre will be supplied by the Sobral based cement plant (Ceara), via an operational agreement signed with Companhia Ferroviaria do Nordeste. Teresina’s centre has 2,000m2 and a storage capacity for 2,500 tons of cement and concrete.

Fred Fernandes, Votorantim Cimentos logistic director, reminded that the Northeast region is very important for the firm’s activities and should rise of 8% - 8,5% in sales volume this year.

Votorantim has inaugurated five distribution centres this year - with the others four being located at Regente Feijo (Sao Paulo), Passo Fundo (Rio Grande do Sul), Palmas (Tocantins) and Ji-Parana (Roraima) - via investments of R$7,5mil. The firm already boasts 39 distribution centres nationwide.
