Titan America announces major concrete Initiative in Eastern North Carolina
06 December 2006

Titan America announced today that it is expanding the ready mix concrete activities of its Mid-Atlantic business unit into eastern North Carolina. It has already secured sites to construct more than 20 plants over the next three years along Interstate 95 and the State’s rapidly growing coastal markets. A number of these are already under construction and will begin operation in 2007.

"We are very excited about this growth initiative which bolts-on very well to our existing Virginia coastal concrete operations. As these markets have been the most vulnerable to cement imports, it will also provide stability to the entire State," said Patrick Borders, President of Titan’s Mid-Atlantic Business. "If acquisition opportunities at reasonable values come up along the way, we will also consider these," he added.

Titan’s activities in this region already include a major cement plant in Roanoke, Virginia, a cement import terminal in Norfolk, five cement rail terminals, 54 ready mix plants and a fly ash processing and marketing business.
