Kazakh plant construction commences

Construction of a cement plant in  Western Kazakhstan has begun. The plant is planned to come on-stream in 2008. Presently, the West Kazakhstani region buys all of its cement from Russia.

The plant will produce 200,000tpa of cement and will also export. Gumar Duisenbayev, director of department of industry and entrepreneurship of West Kazakhstani akimat says that the company has signed the contract for development of chalk deposit Semiglavomarskoye-1 and Semiglavomarskoye-2 - clay and moulding at the Shipovskoye deposit.
 
 
Kurmangazy Ashanov, director of Uralsk cement company says around $15m has so far been invested.
