Domestic cement demand is expected to reach 42Mt this year, said Burhan Evcil, board member of Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association.

This translates to a 20% Yoy increase from 35Mt last year. The main reason behind the increase is the boom in construction sector.

In Q2, the construction sector was the most rapidly expanding sector, as it was the case in previous quarters; it rose by 13.7% YoY. Turkey, with 58 production facilities, has the capacity to produce 41Mt clinker and 53Mta cement, added Evcil.
