Spanish consumption up 7.92 per cent YoY Jan-Oct 2006

Cement consumption in Spain rose by 7.92 per cent YoY to over 46.7Mt in the first 10 months of 2006, the Spanish cement makers association Oficemen said.

Cement output in Spain totalled some 45.1Mt, increasing by 6.72 per cent. Spanish cement imports continued growing, standing at 10.4Mt, up 17.5 per cent. Exports went on decreasing by 21.6 per cent to 974,812t.

Cement consumption stood at 4.7Mt in October 2006 alone, rising by 12 per cent YoY, while cement output climbed 4.96 per cent to 4.6Mt.

Between November 2005 and October 2006 cement consumption rose 6.66 per cent to 54.9Mt, ahead of output which increased 5.64 per cent to 53.2Mt.
