FLSmidth wins more large contracts in India
19 October 2006

FLSmidth has signed a DKK 202m contract to supply all machinery and equipment for a 5,500tpd cement plant. Situated in the South Indian state of Karnataka, the plant is to be built for Jay Kay Cem Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of JK Cement Ltd., and is expected to come on stream in the second half of 2008.

FLSmidth has also been awarded a DKK 98m cement plant contract by Rain Industries Ltd. The latter is a long standing customer of FFE Minerals, the FLSmidth Group’s provider of engineered minerals processing solutions, and the contract therefore offers potential synergies. The contract includes supplies of machinery and equipment for a 3,800tpd cement production line. The plant, which is to be built in the Andhra Pradesh state, is expected to come on stream at the end of 2007.

FLSmidth’s Indian project division in Chennai conducted the negotiations for the two new cement production lines and will also be responsible for implementing the projects.

Over the coming years, the Indian project division will thus supply the machinery and auxiliary equipment for the cement production lines and will supervise installation and commissioning at the two plants. The machinery supplies include four ATOX vertical mills for raw meal and coal grinding, five ball mills for cement grinding and two complete pyro processing systems featuring ILC preheaters, 3-support kilns and SF Cross-Bar coolers. Besides, FLSmidth subsidiary MAAG Gear is to deliver the gear units for both projects.
