PT Semen Gresik has predicted that its net profit this year would increase up to 20 per cent comparing with that of last year. The President Director of PT Semen Gresik Group Tbk, Dwi Soetjipto, revealed the prediction to the press when holding a fast-breaking gathering on Friday evening. 
 
"The volume of cement production will likely be similar to that of 2005. But the profit might increase by up to 10 or 20 per cent until the end of this year," he said. 
 
According to the available data, the cement company recorded a profit amounting Rp663.43bn (US$72m) in the first quarter of 2006, compared to Rp1 trillion for the whole of 2005.
