Portugal Cement consumption down 4.7 per cent YoY Jan-Aug 2006

The cement consumption in Portugal decreased by 4.7 per cent YoY to 5Mt in January to August 2006, data of the country’s association of building and public works companies AECOPS showed on October 11, 2006.

The decline registered for the first eight months of 2006 corresponds to a reduction in the consumption of cement in Portugal of close to 205,000t.

According to AECOPS, the cement consumption in the country has kept negative trends since the beginning of 2006. The association estimates the consumption of cement to continue falling also by the end of the year.
