The West Sumatra province of Indonesia is to receive a US$5m donation from PT Rajawali Corpora, a company that has just taken over Cemex SA’s stake in cement producer PT Semen Gresik Tbk, the Jakarta Post said.

The assistance, which is designed to promote community development in the region, would be disbursed over a span of five installments, with each one consisting of US$1m, until 2010, according to Darjoto Setyawan, deputy chief commissioner of Semen Gresik, the parent company of West Sumatra-based cement producer PT Semen Padang.

"The donation is part of the company’s responsibility and social awareness as regards to the area that hosts the PT Semen Gresik Group, said Darjoto, Rajawali’s managing director.
