One hundred bags of fake cement were yesterday morning recovered from a “factory” in Kakejje zone, Makindye, Uganda, a city suburb.

The Police, who sealed off the area on Thursday night after a tip-off, recovered several polythene bags, clay, soil and adhesive material from Dubai, which the Police suspect are used to make adulterated cement.

“Police officers went there at night and monitored what was going on,” Kampala Extra deputy Police chief Taire Idwege said.

A prime suspect, whose name could not be revealed, was arrested and detained in connection with the cement. “These people have been mixing Portland cement with other materials,” Idwege said.
