Cemex has announced plans to build a new kiln line at its cement plant in Puebla, Mexico.

The new US$460m kiln is expected to increase production at the Tepeaca cement plant in Puebla to 7.6Mta of cement, from current production of about 3.2Mt.

Cemex said the investment will extend over three years.

"This investment reflects our confidence in the strength of the Mexican economy and in the continued high growth of the housing and infrastructure markets in the country," said chairman and chief executive Lorenzo H Zambrano.
