Cement consumption in Spain rose by 8.4 per cent YoY to over 37.3Mt in the first eight months of 2006, the Spanish cement makers association Oficemen said. 
 
Cement output in Spain totalled some 36.1Mt, increasing by 7.6 pct. Spanish cement imports stood at 7.2Mt, up 0.7 per cent. Exports decreased by 21.9 per cent to 775,630t. 
 
Cement consumption stood at 4.9Mt and 4.3Mt in July and August 2006, respectively, rising by 7.7 per cent and 4.0 per cent YoY. The only decline in the 2006 monthly cement consumption in Spain was reported in April 2006, mainly due to the Easter holidays.
