Hazaribagh to have a cement unit

Burnpur Cement, Inida, proposes to come up with a cement unit of 1000tpd capacity and a 50MW thermal-based power unit at Hazaribagh in Jharkhand. The total project will cost Rs500 crore. While the civil work will commence by Dec 2006, the unit is expected to be ready by Dec 2007.

Meanwhile, Ambuja Cement Eastern (ACE) is proposing to merge with Gujarat Ambuja Cements (GAC), its parent company. ACE has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that meetings of shareholders would be held on 13 Sep 2006 to consider the merger proposal.
