07 September 2006

FLSmidth has signed a contract worth DKK 255m to supply all machinery and equipment for a cement plant with a capacity of 5500tpd of clinker with Zuari Cement Limited owned by Italcementi of Italy, which is among the world’s five largest cement producers.

The production line is to be built at an existing cement plant supplied by FLSmidth in 1981 which is situated in the southern part of Andhra Pradesh in India.

FLSmidth’s Indian project division in Chennai conducted the negotiations for the new production line and will also be responsible for implementing the project. This contract is FLSmidth India’s hitherto largest project.

Over the coming 21 months, the Indian project division is to supply all the machinery and auxiliary equipment for the cement production line. The scope of the contract includes ATOX vertical mills for raw material and coal grinding and an OK vertical mill for cement grinding. Also included are a three-support kiln with an ILC preheater and an SF Cross-Bar cooler. In addition, FLSmidth is responsible for supervision and commissioning.

"The contract confirms our expectations for the booming Indian cement market and demonstrates the strength of our local presence," says Group CEO Jørgen Huno Rasmussen, who expects more orders in India this year.

FLSmidth has been active in the Indian market since 1912.

The order will contribute beneficially to FLSmidth’s earnings until the plant is commissioned in 2008.
