Swiss cement major Holcim is expected to construct set up a HUF 65 billion (EUR 236 m) cement factory in northern Hungary’s Nyergesújfalu. The plant would have an annual capacity of 1.5Mt and the parent company has already given the go-ahead to the investment of its Hungarian arm.

The project is currently in the phase of obtaining the necessary approval from authorities as well as the the town’s population.

As soon as authorities nod on Holcim’s plan, the factory could be up and ready in 18-20 months, or by 2009, according to the company’s estimates.
