Century Textiles reports fire at plant, India
15 August 2006

Century Textiles & Industries Ltd has informed BSE that due to fire in electrical substation, cable and electrical equipment connecting the raw Mill & kilns got damaged on August 12, 2006 at the Company’s Century Cement plant at Baikunth, Dist. Raipur, in the State of Chhatisgarh. Consequent to it, Kilns producing the clinker at the said plant have become inoperative with effect from the said date, i.e. August 12, 2006.

Due to fire, the production of clinker has stopped while the cement grind unit is in operation. There will be loss of production of clinker until the kilns start working again. The loss is covered by insurance and the survey process is going on. It is premature to determine at this stage, the quantum of production loss and the time required to resume normalcy. However, the management is doing its best to resume normalcy at the earliest possible opportunity and minimise the loss.
