Cimpor gives priority to acquisitions in China
01 August 2006

Cimpor is looking at acquisitions of factories in China, a market which it considers to be a priority for its international expansion, due to its high growth rates, the company has said. A source from the company told Portuguese financial daily Diário Económico that a move into the Chinese market would preferably by made by acquiring controlling stakes of industrial units, rather than through partnerships with local businesses.

The company is analyzing other markets, such as the United States, “but if Cimpor makes acquisitions, it is more likely that they will happen in China than in any other part of the world,” the same source said.
