Peruvian domestic cement sales increase

Peruvian domestic cement sales stood at 404,426t in May 2006, up 22.9 per cent year-on-year, the country’s Association of Cement Companies (Asocem) said on June 15, 2006. Peruvian cement company Cementos Lima generated 161,402t of the total cement sales in Peru in May 2006, followed by the local cement company Cemento Andino with 93,392t. Peru’s cement exports stood at 100,940t in May 2006, up 38.9 per cent year-on-year. The entire cement exports were made by Cementos Lima.

Cement sales totalled 1,939,365t on the Peruvian market in the period January to May 2006, a 15.4 per cent year-on-year rise. Peruvian cement exports jumped by 29.09 per cent to 335,334t in the first five months of 2006. Peru’s total cement sales in the first five months of 2006 rose 17.24 per cent to 2,274,699t.
