On the road to Damascus
A new cement factory will be built close to Damascus with a cost of Euro 260m and with 3Mta capacity, Syrian daily newspaper of al-Thawra said Tuesday. Ziad al-Za’im, a Syrian investor, had already got the go-ahead official approval for the project, and has also got the land for building the factory, the paper added. The investor is negotiating with an Italian-French Company for the structural studies and equipment. The factory is expected to be commissioned by late 2007.
