Siemens gets Saudi order
13 April 2006

The Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group (I&S) has received an order from Arabian Cement Company Ltd. (ACC, headquartered in Jeddah) to supply all the electrical equipment for the new cement line 6 in the company’s Rabigh factory. This includes the power supply and drive systems as well as the automation and field instrumentation. The project is worth EUR 21 million and the new cement line is scheduled to start production at the end of 2007.

For the new line, Siemens is supplying all the medium-voltage and low-voltage power-supply equipment, including switchgear, unit and distribution transformers and a motor control center (MCC). Low-voltage compensation will improve the power supply quality while UPS systems and an emergency power generator (with an output of 1000 kilovolt amperes) will improve the reliability of supply. The scope of delivery also includes 22 medium-voltage and 560 low-voltage drives, all the automation (including software) as well as the instrumentation and the analyzing equipment. In addition, Siemens is installing a fire alarm system, the lighting as well as the grounding and lightning protection devices, and will expand the existing telephone system. Siemens is also responsible for the installation engineering. ÖMAG-Montananlagenbau GmbH (located in Linz, Austria) will coordinate the project for the end customer ACC.
