Contractors demand control of cement prices

The Indian Builders and Contractors Association, on Sunday, demanded the government to control the prices of cement and steel. The Association members, who met here on Sunday, decided to take up a protest on March 28 against the increased prices of steel and cement in the town. Addressing the meeting, Kurnool MLA MA Gafoor said that the conditions imposed on the cement and steel industry should be eased. Builders Association President Somisetty Venkataramaiah criticised the government policy on the steel industry. The members warned the government that construction activity would be stopped if the prices were not controlled.
