FLSmidth wins Brazil plant order
21 March 2006

FLSmidth has announced it has signed a deal with CSN-Cimentos SA covering design and supply of equipment for a slag cement grinding plant in Brazil.   The 2.2Mta facility will be built in the Rio de Janeiro state in Brazil.  Financial details weren’t disclosed, but the company said the order will contribute positively to earnings.  The plant is expected to come on stream in the second half of 2007.

The scope of the contract includes two OK 39-4 vertical mills which will be the largest vertical cement mills ever designed by FLSmidth, each with a capacity of 171tph. Several FLSmidth subsidiaries and divisions are contributing know-how and equipment to the project.

This is the first time FLSmidth is to supply equipment and technology to CSN-Cimentos SA, a newcomer to the Brazilian cement industry and a subsidiary of the steel works Companhia Siderurgica National, which will provide the slag for the production of cement.
