The Vietnamese Song Gianh cement plant, at total investment of VND3.2 trillion ($202.5m), was officially put into operation in central Quang Binh province on February 19.  The plant, invested by the Central Construction Corp. (Cosevco), is capable of producing 1.4Mt of cement a year.   Major products of the plant are PC-30 cement, PCB-40 cement and PC-50 cement.  
 
Vietnam is predicted to consume 31.5-32Mt of cement this year, up 6.8-8.47 per cent against last year. Its demand for cement will rise to 36.5Mt in 2007, 46.8Mt in 2010 and around 68 to 70Mt in 2020, while the supply will go up from 22.5Mt in 2005 to 35.3Mt in 2007.
