The chief of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) M Lutfie said the government has issued a permit for setting up a new cement plant, PT Semen Jawa, with the value of investment of about US$95m.   According to Lutfie, the new cement plant, which is expected to operate in 36 months, would be located near Semarang in Central Java.  However, Lutfie said that because the new investment for the cement plant would need at least three years, necessary preparation should be made.  Earlier Orascom Industries had told him that it would set up a cement plant in Purwodadi district of Central Java, but up till now nothing had progressed.
