The Vietnam Machinery Installation Corporation (Lilama) has signed a contract worth nearly $40m to manufacture and supply steam boilers for India’s Barh STPP, state media reported.

Earlier, Lilama member units implemented some contracts on manufacturing thermo-electric equipment to ship to Japan and Malaysia. Lilama plans to invest VND450 billion ($28.5 million) in manufacture, mainly focusing on the supply of equipment to cement, thermo-power and hydroelectricity plants, according the Vietnam Engineering Association.

Lilama has made a breakthrough in manufacturing with the implementation of two procurement and construction (EPC) projects, the expanded 300MW Uong Bi Thermo-power Plant in northern Quang Ninh province and the Ca Mau Thermo-electric Plant in southernmost Ca Mau province.

The corporation has poured much money into training welders to meet international standards and manufacturing plants in the south and central region to raise the localization rate of equipment to 70-75 per cent. Lilama is also striving to obtain an output value of around US$400-450m in the coming years.
