FLSmidth India wins Binani contract
13 October 2005

FLSmidth has won a contract worth DKK 230m for the supply of a 2.2Mta cement production line for Binani Cement Limited. The production line is to be built in the western part of India in the state of Rajasthan in continuation of an existing cement plant which FLSmidth, in cooperation with its former Indian licence holder Larsen & Toubro Limited, set up for the same customer in 1996.

The production line is expected to come on stream in the summer of 2007. The scope of the contract only includes equipment and machinery supplies and comprises ATOX mills for raw material and coal grinding, UMS mills for cement grinding and a pyroprocessing system complete with preheater, kiln and the newly developed clinker cooler, Multi-Movable Cooler. The order also includes mill gears to be supplied by FLSmidth subsidiary MAAG Gear in Switzerland.

FLSmidth’s Indian project division in Chennai has conducted the negotiations regarding the new production line and will also be responsible for processing the project. The order is FLSmidth India’s largest project to date. "The order confirms our expectation of a fast growing Indian cement market where FLSmidth’s strong local position will give us a good platform for winning new business.  It is highly gratifying that customers repeatedly return to us for additional equipment and machinery," says Group CEO Jørgen Huno Rasmussen. FLSmidth has been present on the Indian market since 1912.
