The new mill which has a capacity of 420,000t, has brought relief to the acute shortage of cement in the country. In his keynote address, the President, Alhaji Dr. Ahmed Tejan Kabbah, noted among other things that he is well aware of the positive influence that the private sector has had on the country’s economy, adding that his government is actively pursuing policies and programmes to help create the enabling environment to encourage and sustain old investments, thereby attracting new ones into the country.

He went further to state that the attraction and promotion of new investment is crucial in achieving sustainable economic growth, reducing poverty, providing employment for young people and the overall long-term development of the country. He commended the management of LEOCEM and its partner, SCANCEM international, for promoting the construction industry in Sierra Leone, noting that the inauguration of a new cement mill demonstrates LEOCEM’S vote of confidence in Sierra Leone.
