Cement prices stable for now
10 June 2005

Cement prices in India are expected to be stable following the arrival of monsoon. The increase in production and despatches will be countered by the onset of the monsoon, which will prevent any fluctuation in the prices. Cement manufacturers including Associated Cement Companies (ACC) and Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd (GACL) registered an increase in production in May 2005. ACC reported a 12.02 per cent increase in cement production at 1.565Mt in May 2005 (1.397Mt in May 2004) while GACL reported a six percent increase in production at 11.04 lakh tonnes (10.44 lakh tonnes).
