Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd and Sojitz Holdings Corp have jointly received an order to construct cement plant facilities in Vietnam. The state-owned Vietnam Construction & Import-Export Corp., or Vinaconex, has contracted the major Japanese engineering and trading companies to help it build one of the largest cement plants in Vietnam. Construction of the plant, whose production capacity is estimated at 1.89Mta is expected to begin this month and to be complete as early as the end of 2007. The value of the order has not been disclosed.   Vinaconex has also awarded orders to construct other key facilities at the plant to European and other firms, with total investment in the plant estimated at 32 billion yen.  The Japan Bank for International Cooperation as well as BNP Paribas and Societe Generale will provide Vinaconex with a syndicated loan guaranteed by the Vietnamese government.   Published under Cement News
