Cement consumption in Spain increased 1.07 per cent year-on-year to 7.26Mt in the first two months of 2005, Spanish Cement Makers Association (OFICEMEN) said on March 16, 2005.  Cement production in Spain increased by 3.01 per cent year-on-year to 7.11Mt in January and February 2005. Imports for the period fell by 33.4 per cent year-on-year to 907,207t, while exports went up by 8.6 per cent year-on-year to 209,547t in the first two months of 2005. 

In February 2005 alone, cement consumption in Spain stood at 3.84Mt, a 2.2 per cent year-on-year rise. Cement production stood at 3.7Mt in the second month of 2005, down 2.6 per cent year-on-year, exports rose 22.4 per cent year-on-year to 98,458t and imports dropped 26.3 per cent to 532,518t.

In the twelve months to February 2005, cement demand in Spain stood at 47.91Mt, a 2.9 per cent year-on-year rise. Cement production for the period between March 2004 and February 2005 stood at 46.61Mt, up 2.77 per cent year-on-year, exports rose 17.24 per cent year-on-year to 1.47Mt and imports dropped 12.2 per cent to 7.35Mt
