Sayyid Qahtan bin Yaroub Al Busaidi, member of the Omani State Council, will preside over the opening ceremony of a factory for industrial packaging at Rusayl Industrial Estate on Wednesday.

Basim Ghadian, general manager of the company, said that the company is a joint Omani-foreign venture with a capital of RO100,000. It will produce cement bags. The production capacity of the factory is 45 million bags annually, of which the Sultanate will consume 50 per cent while the remaining 50 per cent will be exported.

He said that company attaches great importance to Omanisation as the company has Omanised over 30 per cent of its workforce from the start of the factory production.  Basim Ghadian also noted that the foreign partner is the Austrian company for industrial packaging (Mondi Packaging) which is the largest producer of cement bag papers in the world and it owns 45 factories in the world.  The company had chosen the Sultanate to be its centre for bag production in the AGCC region.
