Strabag to build EUR 111m cement works, Hungary

Strabag Epito Rt, the Hungarian unit of Austrian construction group Strabag, plans to invest HUF27bn  (EUR 111m) in a cement works between Szekszard and Pecs, southern Hungary, project manager Otto Zimmermann said.

With a 1Mta annual output the new plant will be the largest cement works in central Europe. 

Strabag’s parent company, Austrian Bau Holding AG, is to decide on its final location by the end of January 2004.   Strabag’s original plans to build the plant by cement works in Bukkosd, near Strabag Rt’s quarry, fell through on environmental grounds. 

Boda, Cserdi und Kovagoszolos are currently considered possible locations.
