Holcim inaugurates new cement plant, Vietnam

Holcim Vietnam has opened the Thi Vai Cement Grinding Plant in the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau. The plant will supply 1.3Mt of cement to the market per annum, according to the company general director Mike Doyle.

Holcim Vietnam now has six kinds of cement, with two of them ranked amongst the ’Top 5 Vietnamese construction materials of high quality’. Holcim Vietnam is expected to sell 2.6Mt of cement in 2004 and 5.9Mt in 2005. Its total investment capital now reaches $441m. 

Established in 1994 as a 65:35 joint venture between the Holcim Group of Switzerland and the Ha Tien 1 Cement Co., the company has also been operating a cement plant at Hon Chong in the Mekong Delta’s Kien Giang province and a cement-grinding factory in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2.
