13 July 2004

A delegation from Iranian cement producer Ehdas Sanat will meet with officials from Venezuela’s state heavy industry holding CVG this week, according to a CVG release. The Iranians will review a number of studies performed by CVG to determine the viability of developing a cement plant in Venezuela’s Guayana region.

The delegation comprises Asodolah Abedi, Ehdas Sanat’s director general, Gholamreza Ketahfouronsh, deputy director of design and development, and Fariborz Maghimi, adviser for the project.

Ehdas Sanat is considering spending US$185m-200m to build a 1Mtacapacity cement plant in eastern Venezuela’s Monagas state, 15km from the city of Quiriquire.  Ehdas Sanat is a state-owned company that produces 5Mta of cement, 15 per cent of Iran’s total production.
