Fire claims eight lives

Eight workers were burnt alive and more than nine were seriously wounded when furnace oil system at the Saadi Cement Factory in the Hattar industrial area, Pakistan, caught fire due to some faults in the machinery. The injured were taken to the Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) Hospital in Wah Cantt where conditions of three have been stated as critical. Police said about 24 workers were on duty when the fire erupted in the factory, killing eight of them on the spot.  Teams of fire brigade rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire after more than an hour of hectic efforts. Police and experts have started investigating the cause of the incident. Published under Cement News
