Fortune Cement Corp, a unit of Republic Cement in the Philippines, has allocated P700 million to improve facilities.  Renato C. Sunico, Fortune Cement chairman, said the amount would be used to upgrade equipment, in turn boost production to one million tons per year.  Fortune Cement supplies Batangas, Quezon, Laguna, Mindoro and Palawan.  Republic Cement is part of the Lafarge Group in the Philippines.

"We are now in the process of upgrading our kiln from 2500 tons per day to 3200 tons per day and we’re investing P700 million to bring our plant to one million tons per year because we feel that demand in our area can still absorb the increase in our capacity," Mr. Sunico said. He also noted that once the work on the plant is completed, the sales volume of Fortune Cement would increase to 30 million bags annually from 26 million bags a mix of OPC and portland pozzolan cement. "We will experience the increase in capacity next year," he said.
