Turkish Cimsa targets 900,000t sales in 2004

Turkish cement producer Cimsa targets to increase its white cement and clinker sales to 900,000t in 2004, from 800,000 in 2003. Cimsa is seeking to expand on the Russian market. The company has captured a 20 per cent market share on the Spanish white cement market, which is considered one of the largest worldwide.

Cimsa, which has recently introduced its calcium aluminate cement called ISIDAC 40, is part of the cement division of Turkish industrial conglomerate Sabanci Holding. Apart from Cimsa, the division comprises Akcansa, Oysa and Karcimsa. Sabanci cement division sold 8.5Mt of products in 2003, including 3Mt abroad. It achieved a turnover of US$370m in 2¬003, including US$100m exports. The division expects an export revenue of US$107m for 2004.
