Cement demand in Spain reached 7.1Mt in January and February 2004, up 4.03 per cent year-on-year, Spanish Cement Makers Association OFICEMEN said on March 17, 2004. Spanish cement makers produced 6.9Mt of cement in the first two months of 2004, a rise of 8.7 per cent year-on-year. In the same period, imports of cement increased 10.4 per cent year-on-year to 1.3Mt, while cement exports dropped 1.5 per cent year-on-year to 186,700t. In February 2004, cement demand rose 3.7Mt up 6.0 per cent year-on-year. For the same period, production totalled 3.8Mt, up 9.3 per cent year-on-year, imports rose 21.4 per cent year-on-year to 624,700t and exports decreased 35 per cent year-on-year to 79,000t.
