26 February 2004

FLSmidth has signed a contract worth €40m for major machinery and equipment supplies for a new cement production line being built by Qassim Cement Company 300km north of the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh.

The contract was awarded by the Japanese company Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co Ltd (IHI) which has entered into a turnkey contract with the client for a new 4500tpd production line.

The order received by FLSmidth comprises a crusher, an ATOX raw mill and two UMS cement mills plus four FLSmidth Materials Handling raw material stores and an FLSmidth Airtech bag filter. Besides, gearboxes and two packing lines will be supplied by MAAG Gear and Ventomatic, respectively. FLSmidth will also provide supervision and spare parts for the project.

The machinery and equipment will be delivered during the coming 15 months and the production line is expected to come on-stream at the end of 2005.

FLSmidth has previously supplied machinery and equipment to Saudi Arabian cement producers, but this is the first time it will be supplying to Qassim Cement.
